Lowri Beck Services Limited (‘Lowri Beck’) collects Meter readings on behalf of energy suppliers through our website www.myreading.net (‘the Website) and your use of the Website is at all times subject to our Terms of Use.
The Website is controlled by Lowri Beck, who is the data processor for the purpose of the Data Protection Act 1998 (‘the Act’). Lowri Beck is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information you provide us on the Website. We believe it is important for you to know what information we collect and how we treat the information you share with us. The following policy will explain how your personal information will be treated as you use the Website and its features.
Information we may collect from you
'Personal Information' includes your name, physical address, e-mail address(es), telephone numbers, employment details, and other similar information that you may provide to us which could identify you whether alone or in in conjunction with other information we may hold. We do not sell your Personal Information and the limited circumstances in which we may share your Personal Information are outlined below.
We may collect Personal Information from you on behalf of your energy supplier in circumstances such as;
- When you complete forms or other such records (whether on initial registration with us, in the provision of further services, providing your meter readings or otherwise) on the Website;
- If you contact us in writing, telephone, by email or by other electronic means we may keep a record of that communication;
- Lowri Beck may from time to time ask you to complete surveys to use for research and service monitoring purposes, although you do not have to participate or respond to them;
The transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will take all reasonable steps to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to the Website and any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures to try to prevent unauthorised access including storing your electronic Personal Information on our secure servers.
It is your responsibility to ensure that the meter reading, Personal Information and data which you provide via the Website is accurate, correct and not misleading in any respect. Where we have given you (or you have chosen) a password to access certain parts of the Website, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We do not seek to collect Personal Information about children through our website and we are committed to protecting the privacy of visitors under the age of 18. How your information is used
The meter readings and Personal Information you provide to us are as a result of your energy supplier instructing us to collect that information on their behalf.
In each of the instances above, we may ask for your Personal Information in order to make the www.myreading.net website available to you and recognise your needs and to continue to make improvements in the experience provided to those visiting the Website. We may also contact you using the Personal Information which you have provided to us.
Your energy supplier (as controller of your Personal Information) may instruct us to contact you for the purpose of making available to you certain similar services, products, special offers and other marketing materials to those you have previously used or sought to use from us. Such communication may take the form of postal mail, telephone calls, e-mail and/or other methods of contact, but you will be able to 'unsubscribe' at any time by contacting your relevant energy supplier or as instructed in the communication.
As noted above, we are appointed by your energy supplier to collect utility meter readings on their behalf. Meter readings and other Personal Information provided via the www.myreading.net website are processed internally and then sent to your relevant utility supplier. We do not share this information with other outside parties other than those stipulated by the relevant utility supplier. Please note however, we do not accept any liability for the information which we pass on to such suppliers on your behalf, and you are encouraged to discuss such issues with your utility supplier.
The only other circumstances in which your Personal Data and meter readings may be transferred to third parties are where:
- the third party is a member of our group i.e. a subsidiary or holding company as defined in current UK company law;
- in the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, or our arrangement with your supplier comes to an end. Your energy supplier (as controller of your Personal Information we hold) may authorise or require us to disclose your Personal Information to the prospective seller, buyer or such other party of their choice;
- if Lowri Beck or substantially all of its assets were to be acquired by a third party. in this case Personal Information about you processed on behalf of your Energy supplier may be transferred. In this instance the purposes for which your data would be processed would remain those contracted by your Energy supplier;
- if we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply our Terms of Use and/or other agreements with you;
- any other circumstances in which you provide your consent to disclosure to the third party.

Your right of access can be exercised Directly with your energy supplier in accordance with the Act and guidance issued by the Information Commissioners Office. Any access request may be subject to a fee of £10.00 (or any other amount provided by law at the time your request is made) to meet your energy supplier’s costs in providing you with details of the information they hold about you.
